ECTMIH 2019

Every two years, the European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) brings together more than 1,500 scientists and experts from across the world. The Congress provides a platform for sharing research and innovation, and it also acts as a forum for reflection, in the field of tropical medicine and global health.

This year, the 11th ECTMIH was held in Liverpool between the 16th and 20th September, with the University of Liverpool and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine acting as facilitators.

The UK’s Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene was a co-sponsor, and as part of this large congress, held its Annual Scientific Meeting at the event. They chose to focus on One Health, devoting two days of discussion and debate to science in the area of One Health, globally.  The HORN project was well represented at this meeting; Lisa Cavalerie and Ophelie Lebrasseur made oral presentations on their work, while Eric Fevre chaired a session on surveillance and One Health. Matthew Baylis and Siobhan Mor presented posters on the HORN project, and scaling up One Health research in HDSS sites in Ethiopia, respectively.
